Vacation Help

So, I am going to take a solo trip to Europe sometime in November/December. I know that I am landing in London and visiting a friend there, but beyond that? Not so sure. Some of my thoughts are taking a train to Edinburgh, a flight to Dublin, a flight to Copenhagen, or a flight to Amsterdam.

I have decent Spanish, minimal French, so I am thinking places where you are apt to find people who speak English (though I would certainly try and learn a few phrases to muddle my way through any non-English speaking city I visit). I also probably have about 9 days to travel.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Cautions? Thanks!
