Illinois Forward Darius Paul Arrested For Public Intoxication, Vandalism, Sent Home From Team Europe Tour

By Dan Lyons

The long and winding college basketball career of Illinois forward Darius Paul is in serious jeopardy. After returning to the Illini following a season-long suspension for two failed drug tests, reports came out this morning that Paul had been sent home from the team's European tour. As it turns out, Paul was arrested during a stop in France.

In the release about Paul being sent home, head coach John Groce said that the forward's status would be re-evaluated when the team returned to Champaign.

Paul has not played Division I basketball since 2012-13, when he averaged 10.4 points per game for Western Michigan. While nothing has been decided, it is difficult to imagine Paul playing for the Illini this season following this arrest.
