Fox closed with a two-under 68 to finish level with seven others on eight-under par at the European Masters in Crans-sur-Sierre, six strokes off the pace.

England's Matthew Fitzpatrick emerged victorious after beating Australian Scott Hend in a play-off which stretched three holes.

Fox spent the tournament nestled in the top 10, with any bid to win spoiled by tallying a double bogey in each of the first three rounds.

He otherwise produced the sort of golf that his him sitting 22nd in the Tour's points race with 10 events remaining.

Fox picked up prize money of 47,867 euros ($NZ79,200) to climb closer to a million euros for the season.

Statistically the longest hitter on tour, Fox will take his power game to the KLM Open in the Netherlands this week.
